Welcome to Grit & Gears!

Taking your car in to the mechanic shop shouldn’t feel like walking into a test you didn’t study for.

You’re handed a list of repairs, a price, and a bunch of words nobody explained, and you’re expected to just say yes.

Grit & Gears comes straight from my shop floor in Kennett Square, PA, where I’ve been fixing cars since 2023.

Here you’ll find easy maintenance tips, simple DIY guides, honest breakdowns of common repairs, and how to ask the right questions so you can make your own call.

I’m Alexia

I’ve owned my auto shop since 2023, and I’ve watched too many people feel nervous, embarrassed, or brushed off about their cars.

So that’s what this blog is for.

Real talk about your car: what that check engine light means, what that noise is, what you actually need, and what someone’s just trying to sell you.

There’s no such thing as a dumb question here.

Most of us were never taught how our cars work, and too many people, especially women, have been talked down to for asking.

Car knowledge shouldn’t be a secret club.

So buckle up, grab a coffee, and get your hands a little dirty.

Send me your questions!

If it’s on your mind, it’s probably on someone else’s too, and it might become a future post. I’ll never share your name unless you say it’s okay.
